Our History

Welcome to Cummins Funeral Directors, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo. Here at Cummins we endeavour to provide a professional, individual and caring service in all aspects of the arrangement of a funeral for your loved one.

Cummins Funeral Directors was founded in 1955 by Val Cummins and soon became the largest funeral directors in the south Mayo region. Val Cummins was also the first funeral director to don the formal black suit which is now de riguer for undertakers. Val’s son Vincent Cummins trained alongside him from a young age and is now at the helm of business.

We are the longest serving undertakers in the region, and whilst the our first funeral home was opened in 1985, in 2007 a new purpose built funeral home was opened in Cornmarket, Ballinrobe. The building was designed to maximize the comfort of grieving families. The funeral home is maintained to a very high standard as are our vehicles.

We are familiar with, and competent in, all aspects of undertaking including, cremations, post-mortems, and repatriation. We can also provide assistance with applications for death grants and death registration.

At Cummins Funeral Directors, we appreciate that each funeral and family are unique and we can use our wealth of experience to help you plan a funeral tailored to your individual needs.
